alpha baking company, inc. launches propane-powered delivery fleet test

On June 12, 2013, Alpha Baking Company, Inc. held an event at our Aurora, Illinois depot to officially announce the launch of 22 propane-powered stepvans to be used for Chicagoland deliveries. In addition to our friends, business associates, and members of the press, key individuals from the local community and trucking and baking industries were in attendance. Our Master of Ceremonies was Carl Lisek, from the U.S. Energy Department Chicago Area Clean Cities, who introduced each speaker and highlighted Alpha's great strides in our tests of alternative fuels. Speakers at the event included:

Greg Bales,Liason to U.S. Senator Richard Durbin

Dale Berman, Mayor of North Aurora

Todd Mouw, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Roush CleanTech

Jack Sullivan, Vice President of Sales, Penske Truck Leasing

Jula Kinnaird, Washington Representative, American Bakers Association

Andrew Burnham, Assistant Environmental Scientist, Argonne National Laboratory

Following these speakers, Alpha's Vice President, Director of Logistics gave his keynote address, thanking those in attendance as well as Alpha Baking Company, Inc. as a whole for their vision. "Alpha Baking did this because it's the right thing to do. They are continually pursuing doing the right things, from the way they serve their customers to the manner in which they treat their employees. I am very proud to be a part of Alpha Baking and in making this initiative a reality."

Compared to conventional diesel counterparts, propane autogas vehicles reduce smog-producing hydrocarbons, virtually eliminate particulate matter, and lessen noise by 50%. Alpha's 22 new 100% propane-powered stepvans will emit about 2 million fewer pounds of carbon dioxide over their lifetime than conventional stepvans.
